1987
- Charles opened their first Charles David freestanding boutique on the chic block of Melrose Avenue and Martel.
- Wholesale division launched.
- After studying at the AFPIC School of Shoe Design in Paris youngest daughter Nathalie Malka took the helm as Creative Director.
1988
- With the urging of her father Nathalie launched the celebrated Nathalie M. collection, the most exclusive design division under the Charles David name.
- An exclusive licensee agreement with Guess Footwear was signed and a partnership forged.
1989
- Daughter Joelle Malka joined the family fold becoming the Retail Director.
1991
- With Charles, Nathalie and the design team circumventing the globe for inspiration they were able to manufacture shoes in Italy and Spain straight from the Runways in Europe and shortly thereafter slipped onto the feet of their customers.
1998
- 1991 – 1998: Observing the popularity and exponential growth of the brand Joelle expanded the retail division from 2 to 15 boutiques, the bulk of the Charles David real estate.
2002
- 1999 – 2002: Joelle continued the expansion of the Charles David retail division escalating the boutique count from 15 to 21.
- Charles by Charles David collection launched.
2003
- With the emerging teen market blasting the pages of Teen Vogue and Elle Girl, Exchange by Charles David was created promoting Amarjit Khalsa from design assistant to Exchange’s lead designer.
2004
- Charles David handbag division is launched.
2006
- 2003 – 2006: Joelle expands the boutique count from 21 to 26 boutiques.
- In celebration of 20 years the first of the Couture boutique renovations are put into action in Boston.
2007
- Bonne Anniversaire Vingt Ans. and the opening of Charles David 27th store in Atlantic City at the Piers and the birth of the 20th Anniversary Collection all inspired from best sellers throughout the years.
2008
- Designer Colin Robertson rejoins the design team after a 3 year hiatus.
- Charlesdavid.com is launched with Zappos in the fall of 2008.
- Charles David continues with their store remodel.
